Woo hoo, its come up a treat! After being splattered with paint and looking really grimy, we scraped the paint off by hand, sanded it by hand then oiled it. The oil has really brought out the colour of the oak, I love it and its come up better than I thought!
How anyone thought it was a good idea to stick carpet over it is beyond me.
